The Big Question

Hi, guys! Jake and I are writing the story of how we got engaged:

(Cameron starts)

I went to work as normal that Thursday morning. I got there early, and the head lifeguard had a big smile on her face.

“What is it?” I asked.

“Oh, nothing,” she said.

“Becky, we are friends, tell me.”

“You will find out later,” she said.

It was just after noon, and I was sitting up in my chair watching the people dive off the diving boards. Then this young, good-looking man dove off the high dive and did what looked like a belly flop.

(Jake’s turn)

The day had come for me to pop the BIG QUESTION to Cameron asking her to marry me. I talked to her supervisor that morning and made sure she was stationed at the diving boards around noon.

I held the ring in its little case in my hand as I jumped off the diving board. I did sort of a belly flop and held my breath as long as I could to see if I could get Cameron to jump in and rescue me.

(Cameron)

The man was staying down too long, I thought as I looked down into the pool. He looked like he was just floating lifeless down there. Well, better safe than sorry I thought as I plunged in. I grabbed the man under the arms and pulled him to the surface. I pushed him up onto the side of the pool and climbed out. When I looked down, Jake had his eyes open smiling at me with a little box in his hand.

(Jake)

Cameron looked down at me in disbelief.

“Jake?” she said.

“Cameron,” I said sitting up, “Will you marry me?”

“Ah………. What?”

“Cameron, will you become my wife?” I asked, starting to think that she was going to say no.

(Cameron)

I could not believe this. One minute I was jumping into the water, and the next my boyfriend of three years was asking me to marry him. I had already thought about what my answer would be, and that was YES, but he came from out of the blue, and I had to think about it again.

(Jake)

By this time a small crowd had gathered around us, and I had one of my buddies filming it. “Oh no,” I thought, “please don’t let her say no.” Cameron had her hands over her mouth, and she was looking at me.

(Cameron)

Well, my mind cleared after a few seconds, and I managed to say, “YES Jake, I will marry you.”

Jake jumped up and hugged me as the small crowd clapped for us. I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek as he grinned happily.

(Jake)

She gave me one last hug as I told her I had to go. “Oh, by the way, miss, thank you for saving my life,” I said as I walked away. Cameron smiled and waved as I left.

Well, guys, I hope you enjoyed our little story. We would love to hear yours, so please, if you feel comfortable, write about how your husband proposed to you. Or, for you guys, you can write about how you proposed to your wife. Even if you just dropped down on a knee, we would still love to hear about it.

Take care all.

Hi all forgot to add that what brought this on. Jake and I were at a party with a few friends and we got to talking about this, so I just thought since we had such a fun time during that discussion that I would tell ours and see if any one wants to carry on the conversation. I know it is a little odd, but I thought why no give it a shot.

Thank you P.F.C. would love to hear about it. I think people missed the part that I was asking to hear there’s too lol.

I also fined it funny that the pic they chose looks so much like me lol. Just need to die my hair like that and we could almost be twins.

Ok, so we’ve got a deal 🙂 I will somehow let my MH friends know when God will have blessed me with a husband-to-be. Then, I will come back to your post and share my engagement story with you. So, dear Blondie and team, you gotta keep this site going and going and going (as you already beautifully do – Way to go!!! You’re awesome!!!) 😉 And dear Cameron, you gotta stay on MH like for life 😀 God bless you all!

Ps: Sweet coincidences are the best – but we know such coincidences are in truth the favor of God. 🙂 So, dear Cameron, let me compliment you on being a truly beautiful woman!

This was so fun Cameron! I can’t imagine all the instant
adjustments you had to make mentally – in transitioning from
the thought of “is this guy okay” to instantly “I know this guy
and he is asking me to marry him!”. Not to mention the crowd
around you. What a scene! I love the creativity that God gives
us. I’m so happy for the life you two have together in Christ.
    God bless you both. LH

Yeah it was was a shocker lol. It was the first rescue I had ever done besides pulling little kids out of the water. So thank goodness for that because if I would have taken my time to think it through Jake’s plan would not of worked so well. Any way it turned out all good and I got a very good looking guy out of all of it.

Sweet story. It always seemed to me to be very risky for a guy to ask a girl to marry him in public. He better be really sure he is going to get a "yes". A "no" or worse a "I'll have to think about it." would be embarrassing in the extreme.
