Dutch Delight
In 1991, our family took a vacation, along with my cousin, his wife and their children, to Amsterdam, The Netherlands for two weeks.
My husband and I spoke to my cousin and his wife, agreeing which days/evenings we’d take each other’s children along with our own for an outing. We wanted our children to get to know one another. Most days, though, we were all together the eight of us!
Amsterdam is a beautiful place, very quiet. Of course, we most definitely steered clear of some of the shady things and venues Amsterdam is known for, and luckily we had maps, so we knew where to go for family friendly fun! Besides, I had been to Amsterdam with my husband before. The canal boats are very relaxing with beautiful views!
We tried the delicious cheese at the Cheese Museum, saw the Anne Frank House, took the canal boats around, and went to the Rijksmuseum and saw beautiful works of art. We also ate some hot waffles with chocolate!
When we came home to the cosy Bed & Breakfast we were staying at, the eight of us spent some time together before returning to our rooms. The kids all went to sleep.
In our room after taking off my clip-on earrings, my husband surprised me with something. He secretly brought an ABBA video tape for us to dance to!
“Baby, my dear loving wife, praise the Lord for creating you, and blessing you! I love you, and you are the most beautiful woman in the world!”
