We Knew Our Marriage Would be Blessed

I met Lisa at college and was majoring in bioethics. She was a very shy girl that I met at a party one Friday evening. Lisa was very beautiful and I could image that she had been approached a lot by many different men all the time from around campus to just her daily life. However I noticed that there was something very different about her and the way that she carried herself. I learned in talking with her that she was not that shy at all but had a very deep sense of who she was and a confidence that was in herself and not how she looked. I asked if I could see her again and she said no. I happened to run into her on campus as she was heading to the same bible fellowship that I regularly attended. Lisa said that she had been looking for a youth fellowship and someone had directed her to the university fellowship program.

I offered to walk with her to the meeting room where we had fellowship. Knowing somehow that we were on a similar path I thought that she would be more receptive of seeing me outside of the fellowship meetings. She reluctantly agreed and we met for lunch the very next day at the local restaurant down the street. In that meeting I knew that GOD had brought us together for a reason. We had very much in common and Lisa’s quite confidence led me to really enjoy being around her. I knew that Lisa was my future wife. We dated for six months.  One evening I led her to the outskirts of the town as we were out one evening for a drive in the country. I had purchased a nice but inexpensive ring to ask her marry me.

Being a student, finances where tough and I used all the money I had to pull together something nice for her. At the outskirts of the town was a beach that led all the way up to the end of the coastline. it had just fallen dusk and the air began to cool. We proceeded up the beach coast because I was not sure of the right moment to propose to her. It was getting darker and the sunset was the most beautiful I’d have ever seen. I bent down on one knee right then and there, stuttering over the words I had tried to memorize I decided that I would just speak from the hear that that moment I met her I knew that something was very different and special. Despite the fact that we were young college students unaware of the true future that lay ahead of us I knew that God had ordained her to be the love of my life, my best friend, my wife. Not an emotional man, the tears began to flow as she bent down on her knees to give me a hug and to say the word I dreamed of hearing…. YES!

I had had some not so good relationships in the past and could not understand what I was doing wrong. I realized that I saw also the tears in her eyes too that GOD had been preparing me for this moment. I realized that love is never meant to put you down, make fun of you, and ridicule you. Real love makes you feel like you are on top of the world and I felt that way with Lisa. Every bad relationship encounter made me realize that what is ordained from GOD is so clear you never have to wonder or doubt. YOU JUST KNOW IT! I was ready to give up on love relationship because I never knew where they were going but god did not give up on me. I would go through all again if I knew someone like my ordained wife Lisa would be waiting for me at the end. We have been married 25 wonderful year and have 2 kids…. it was meant to be and god let me know it right from the beginning.
